Running Dbvisit Standby with multiple databases on one server
How can I have 2 standby databases running on the same standby server with Dbvisit Standby?
This is possible and easy to setup.
As each DDC file contains the settings for the entire Oracle environment on both the primary and standby servers, it is not dependent upon other databases or other Oracle settings.
So to setup the second Dbvisit Standby configuration (where the standby server has multiple standby databases), it is exactly like setting up a normal Dbvisit Standby configuration. You can ignore the fact that the standby server has multiple standby databases.
As long as you give the correct environment settings for the primary server and the standby server, then it will work.
The important settings are:
[10 Generic Settings]
[20 Primary Server Settings]
SOURCE=<primary server bame>
[30 Standby Server Settings]
DESTINATION=<standby server name>
ORACLE_SID_DEST=<name of standby database (if different)>
